Mantras are derived from Sanskrit: manas "mind," tra “tool”.  Adding mantras to your daily routine is healthy because they act as a tool for the mind to reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and quiet internal chatter. Scientific research indicates that regular, focused repetition of a sound, word, or phrase affects the brain — improving cognitive function by focusing attention and boosting memory. Mantras have also shown to lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and foster emotional balance.

Chanting, whether whispered, said aloud, or silently repeated, help focus the mind, body, and breath, often improving focus and enhancing self-awareness. It also encourages the production of alpha waves, which occur in the brain when it is relaxed.

Consciously stating (mentally or aloud) that you are open to receiving healing for your "highest good" is the most effective way to facilitate the flow. If your mind is racing, repeat a mantra like "I am safe," "I am peaceful," or "I am enough”.

Mantras and Reiki: The 5 Principles of Reiki are spiritual guidelines created by Mikao Usui to promote balance, wellness, and inner peace by focusing on the present moment.

  1. Just for today, do not anger: Releasing angry thoughts helps process emotions rationally and
    reduces heavy mental loads.

  2. Just for today, do not worry: Letting go of worry allows you to trust that life unfolds as it should, reducing mental strain.

  3. Just for today, be grateful: Practicing gratitude shifts focus to positive aspects of life
    and encourages healing.

  4. Just for today, work honestly: This means working with integrity, honoring oneself, and being present in all tasks.

  5. Just for today, be kind to all living things: Showing kindness to others, animals, and oneself promotes harmony and inner peace.

Why "Just for Today”? The phrase "Just for today" is used to make these principles achievable and sustainable, focusing on reducing mental stress and cultivating mindfulness in the present moment.
